BOO jobs and power
@LilyLEDs Boo 600 jobs lost at Nanticoke to create some TEMPORARY jobs building and erecting these turbines. BOO $0.80 per kilowatt hour.
@canaceHD Please explain which jobs were lost because of the turbines, and why.
@LilyLEDs The Nanticoke OPG plant will be closed by McGuinty and 600 jobs permanent jobs will be lost. Some of those folks have been there for 30+ years. The turbines will replace the cheap coal fired power generated there with $0.80 per kilowatt hour power. Your bill will go up in time to levels you’ve never seen.
It all sounds like glass half empty, other side of the coin talk to me.
Maybe the Americans will buy the power and the coal shovelers will get jobs doing something else or get good retirement packages.
It’s not all doom and gloom.
@LilyLEDs I admire your optimism but I doubt the people about to lose their jobs share it. Whatever the end result for those folks, the cost of our hydro is unfortunately going up. Then there’s the potential health and safety issues etc..
