RIT on TV News: Imagine RIT Preview


13WHAM-TV recaps its morning news segments previewing Imagine RIT: Innovation and Creativity Festival taking place at Rochester Institute of Technology. A college community will come together for one day to show its stuff—Saturday, May 2. At least 20000 people are expected to show up for Imagine RIT Therell be ice cream created with liquid nitrogen, a computer hooked to a toy to turn photos into etch-a-sketch images, a hybrid vehicle with batteries running on wind power. Saturdays “Imagine RIT festival will go a long way to showing the community what this school is all about. “RIT is a special place full of left-brainers and right-brainers, as I like to say, and this festival is an attempt to communicate all the innovative and creative work going on, on campus, where we like to say the left brain and the right brain meet,” said RIT President Bill Destler. That means the arts–and technology–and science–all coming together. Last year’s Imagine RIT attracted some 20000 visitors. Saturday, from 10 to 5 — they might get 25000. “What I really love is, to see somebody come to this campus and say, I had no idea these things were going on! said event chairman Barry Culhane. Parking will be free on campus, there’s shuttle service for RIT, and it’s free to Get in. Imagine that!
